This is how we celebrated my graduation from high school. Finally done with regents and AP tests and will have time to take a breath and do some shooting.
Here is my last english paper for my high school career:
This I believe.
I believe that we are all connected, the bad ones, the odd ones, and the amazing ones, through breath. I believe in the human breath, the bird breath, and the animal breath. I believe in breath underwater, on land, and in the air. I believe that every breath defines the moment that we are in.
Breathing is the first sign of independent life. We are helpless until someone sucks the goo out of our lungs and we can scream. It also defines moments of death, last breaths, and final sighs. When someone drowns, we are given hope in the moment when they cough up water and suck in another breath, no matter how much of a struggle that breath is, it's still a breath of hope. We breath for one another just long enough, to keep someone else going just long enough, to see another day.
Moments of powerful impact come hand and hand with the change of breath. We hold our breaths in anticipation waiting for something great. Breathing comes on like a hurricane during moments of fear and passion. I believe in a deep breath to calm me down, to settle me back into earths atmosphere. Breaths quicken during moments of struggle, and one can be left gasping desperately, for just one more breath. There are moments when laughter leaves us searching for breath, there are sights and feelings that leave us breathless, and sometimes we're just holding our breath waiting in quite desperation. During the mundane moments of life, breathing is mechanical, its hardly even a thought. It just happens just the way life does. Then there are times when we are completely at ease. Sleeping puts us into a lull, where there is hardly any movement besides the rising and falling of deep, relaxed breaths.
I believe in watching others breathe. I believe that their lungs expand and contract in the same ways mine do. It's something that I can see, but more importantly I can feel it. I can feel my ribs expand and contract. I see can my chest rise and fall. I can see the breath of another on a cold day and I can feel their ribs flexing to the rhythm of their lungs.
I believe in what I can feel. I believe in what I can see. Those deep breaths give me support when I need it most. I don't need a god or a miracle because I believe in what's inside of me and what surrounds me.
